Language of the Half Term
We welcome families from a wide range of ethnic minority backgrounds who speak various languages.
Each half term we choose a language to celebrate and hold at least one "theme" day during the academic year.
We begin the half term by holding a special assembly and inviting parent/s of our children who speak the language we are celebrating to join us. The children learn about the culture of the country and how to say some key phrases in that language. They also learn a song in singing assembly and listen to story in that language. All of the resources we use are uploaded onto Google Classroom to support our children's home learning.
We have learnt about many languages from around the world including German, Igbo, Mandarin, Welsh, Finish, Polish, Malayalam, Urdu, Portuguese, South African, French, Fula, Slovakian to name but a few! The language we learn each half term is based on the cultures of our families in school at that time.
In the table below you can the number of languages we have learnt about over the past few years.
We look forward to learning lots of languages in the forth-coming academic year!
