Autumn 1 - Out and About
In this first half term we will be exploring our local area and using our geography skills to look at the human and physical features in Popley. We will also be exploring the history of our school comparing the school now to when it was opened in 1969.
Autumn 2 - Fire! Fire!
This term we’ll be looking at the Great Fire of London. Using our detective skills to compare life in 1666 to that of present day. As an introduction to our topic, we will write and record our very own poems. To land our topic, visitors from the local fire service will come to help us learn about what they do. This links in with our safety week where we talk about fire safety and lots of other ways to keep us safe.
Spring 1 - We're on the Move
This term we’ll be looking at Transport. Using our sequencing skills to retell the story of the 'Naughty Bus'. As an introduction to our topic, we will visit Brooklands Museum and see all the different types of transport and their features.
Our focus this term in Math is on place value, addition and subtraction to 20. Daily practice of our number bonds to 20 will help us to solve our number sentences. We will also be looking at measure, position and directions.
In history, we will be talking about Amelia Earhart and comparing transport from the past and present.
Jackson Pollack is our artist of the term and we will be completing 3D Paper Mache Paintings.
