Welcome to our class page

Our new Topic is Under the Sea. The children are already so interested in learning about sea animals and the oceans. We will be reading a range of fiction and non-fiction books each week. We will be finishing our topic with a beach dress up day!

In literacy, we will be learning lots of new digraphs and using our phonics to read new words. The children will be labelling a fish, creating a persuasive poster, making an old map, following a recipe and continuing to work on spellings and handwriting.

In maths, we will be learning what estimation is, practising how to count accurately and order numbers to 20 (and beyond!), recognising and describing 2D and 3D shapes, completing and creating patterns, learning how to add and subtract, measuring length, weight and capacity, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, and recognising coins.

Please continue to read every night, practice key words, sounds, and number and letter formation. Be sure to complete the Merton mission this half-term!

Thank you for your continued support!

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a lovely fun-filled holiday with family. We are back with a new topic: Paddington Bear! We will learning about Paddington Bear and other famous bear stories such as Goldilocks and the three bears and We're going on a bear hunt.

In maths we will be learning about subtraction and addition. We will also be measuring and sorting objects by size, weight, and length and recognising and adding coins.

We are starting football with a specialist teacher so make sure your child has a named PE kit in school. If the weather is good, they will be outside on the football pitch. You may want to provide your child with joggers.

Please continue to read every night, practice key words, sounds, and number and letter formation. Be sure to complete the Merton mission this half-term!

Thank you for your continued support!

Our new topic is EVERYDAY HEROES! We have been given a challenge to find out about Everyday Heroes. We have lots of exciting visitors coming in to help us learn about what they do. We will be visited by a paramedic, police officer, a vet nurse and our very own Headteacher! We will be landing our topic with a Hero Dress Up Day on Friday 6th December. We will then be focusing on CHRISTMAS! The children will be taking part in a show called A Miracle in Town. Some children will have speaking parts which will be sent home shortly.

We are so pleased with how well the children are settling into the routine of school. The children will be making lots of art projects as part of our Healthy Me Topic. We will be having an art gallery at the end of the half term where you can see all of their art and even buy some if you want! The money raised will be going towards an animal visit later in the year.

The children will also be practising writing skills through dough gym and hand control activities. They will begin to write their names and learn to say and write letter sounds. The children will also be given the opportunity to start learning key words.

The children are excited to start learning new skills in maths lessons. They will be counting, recognising, ordering and writing numbers to 6 and beyond! They will be learning lots of new number rhymes and songs.

The children will also be spending time in our outside area. We will be busy practising our skills on the bikes, being creative with paints, playing on the climbing frame and much more!

We look forward to telling you more about our adventures!

Check back soon!

Please read and practise key words with your child every day.
