Happy New Year!
Our topic this half term is Paddington Bear. We have adapted our learning so that everyone who has to learn remotely from home can follow the same lessons. If you are having any problems accessing Google Classrooms please email us so we can help you.
Our topic will focus initially on Paddington Bear and we will be finding out about Paddington station in London. We will be showing the children all the landmarks that make London so special. We will then be listening to stories about different bears as well as finding out about real bears.
Please share everything you are doing with your child at home.
Autumn 2
Welcome back! We hope you all had a great half-term! Our new topic is Everyday Heroes and we are going to be learning about people who help us and their jobs.
In maths, we will be counting, recognising, ordering and writing numbers to 10 and beyond. The children will also be learning 2D and 3D shapes. We will be learning number rhymes, positional language and time sequencing.
In literacy, we will be learning how to write letters correctly, to retell familiar stories, to hear and write initial sounds and to look at books to find out information about everyday heroes.
Remember to complete the Merton Mission
Phone a relative or friend to ask them about their job (this has been changed from visit a library due to lockdown restrictions)
Draw or paint a picture of an Everyday Hero
Bring in a book about being an Everyday Hero to share with the class
Everyday Hero dress up day is Friday 4th December. The children can come dressed up as their favourite Everyday Hero.

The children will also be practising writing skills through dough gym and hand control activities. They will begin to write their names and learn to say and write letter sounds. The children will also be given the opportunity to start learning key words.
The children are excited to start learning new skills in maths lessons. They will be counting, recognising, ordering and writing numbers to 6 and beyond! They will be learning lots of new number rhymes and songs.
The children will also be spending time in our outside area. We will be busy practising our skills on the bikes, being creative with paints, playing on the climbing frame and much more!
We look forward to telling you more about our adventures!
Check back soon!
Please read and practise key words with your child every day.
Thank you for all your help and support!
Our next topic is Everyday Heroes!
