Spring 1 2020

Welcome back. This half term is very exciting as we launch a new topic - Florence Nightingale.

The children will travel back in time to learn about the 'Lady with the Lamp' and her significant impact on nursing and hospitals.

Where Is Home, Little Pip? - read aloud

Autumn 2

This half term the children will be raising the awareness of penguins and how to save them. They are hoping to adopt a penguin from the WWF as they are becoming incredibly vulnerable due to climate change. They will learn lots of facts about not only penguins but the different animals that live in Antarctica.

Our book we are focusing on this half term is Samson's journey, the children will have opportunities to write in the style of the author. (She glided effortlessly through the glistening waves)

Autumn 1

This half term we will be travelling back in time to April 1912 to find out what happened to the 'Unsinkable Ship of dreams' The Titanic. The children will be writing using both fiction and non fiction genres as they think about what they would hear, see and feel if they were a passenger on board.

The children have become Titanic experts this half term and impressed the visitors and staff at the SeaCity Museum.
