Friday 4th July is Transition Day when your child will meet their new teacher and LSA and visit their new classroom. At the end of this day, your child will receive a form to indicate their class teacher for September. Parents will not be notified beforehand. All current classes have been split taking into account boy-girl ratio, SEN (Special Educational Needs) ratio, EAL (English as an additional language) ratio, ability groups, friendship groups and ‘clashing’ personalities!
Leave of Absence
The Governing Body has agreed to adopt the new Local Authority Leave of Absence form. Parents/ Carers MUST apply for any request of absence from school. The Department of Education stipulates it is a criminal offence if parents/carers take children out of school without consulting the school first.
Thank you to all parents who completed the annual questionnaire. The Governors will now analyse and feedback your responses. If you were unable to meet the return deadline of 20th June, please do not hesitate to return your questionnaire. However you will not be calculated in the % feedback.
Your child’s end of year report will be sent out on Thursday 17th July. This report will summarise your child’s strengths and development targets in all areas of learning and will include a copy of their attendance data for this academic year.
Hopefully, weather permitting, this will take place on 11th July at 10.00am on the junior field. The children will all participate in competitive races. Children may be collected from 12.15pm for our annual infant & junior family picnic. School will finish at 1.15pm on this day in order to enable transition meetings to take place between the infant and junior schools. Please ensure that you make arrangements for either yourself or another relative/friend to collect your child and sign them out from 12.15p.m. - all children must be collected by 1.15p.m. Further details will follow nearer the time.
We will collect all Guided Reading books on 27th June to audit our provision and order additional texts for September. We will continue to send Home-School books or children will choose a book from their book corners for the remainder of the term.
Health & Safety
Miss Palmer, Headteacher of the junior school, has asked that parents supervise their own children if they are playing on the junior adventure playground equipment. Due to the numbers of children and parents waiting on the junior playground, scooters must be not be ridden but must be locked in the scooter / cycle pods.
Children’s Services Locality Team now publish the ‘latest resources’ in terms of job vacancies or support network or agencies for parents. We have published them on our school website under ‘Parents’ Page’ and will also display a copy in the blue Owl notice board by the school entrance.
Free School Meals
The Government has introduced a new scheme entitling all infant school children to free school meals from September. Children will have an option of a ‘red’ meal (usually meat) or ‘green’ (vegetarian). Please find attached further information and a survey to ascertain how many parents may take up this offer. Hampshire Caterers and the school are devising logistics to ensure that we can accommodate 225 meals in one hour, possibly in two sittings. Children may still bring in packed lunches if they prefer.
We have recently suffered some vandalism on the school site. If you see anything suspicious occurring in the school grounds during weekends/evenings/holidays, please report it to the police.
